What is a beta program?

In developer terms, a beta program is the second phase computer software goes through. The first stage is usually called alpha, second is beta and final is release. Many times companies make available the beta phase to customers, or even the public, so they can test it and make sure everything is working correctly. It's also a time when customers can test and provide feedback—and maybe even have a chance to directly influence the outcome.

Where can I find Toad beta programs on Toad World?

Toad has always had extended beta programs for its many products where you can participate via Toad World®. In order to see what products have an active Beta Program, you can go to the Forums section under Toad World. Toad World Forums is a popular feature of Toad World where you can search for answers, ask questions and even answer questions from your fellow Toad users around the world. It’s also where you can join a Beta program.

How to sign up for a beta program

Once you’re on this page, you’ll see the various categories you can browse based upon product name in the left-hand column. Some are tagged with the word “Beta” while others may be pinned as a separate category altogether. 

The Toad for Oracle product has a dedicated Beta Category due to its popularity and traffic.

Toad 14 Beta

We are proud to announce the launch of Toad for Oracle v14.0 beta

We want to encourage you to participate in this beta program to help us to deliver a high quality product. Quest’s beta programs are your opportunity to participate in the development, direction, and testing of our products. By becoming a beta tester you have direct access to the development team and product management.

Instructions for joining the BETA program:

• The Beta requires that you are running the current commercial copy of Toad for Oracle. If you are not running v13.3 you need to go here.
• Read the Beta Agreement . Downloading the Beta code constitutes usage agreement.
• IMPORTANT: Do not install Toad Beta into your commercial Toad folder or the previous beta folder, if it exists.
• Installation: If you have Toad 13.3 Beta installed or any other previous beta, we recommend uninstalling the previous Beta(s) before installing the Toad 14.0 Beta.

Which Beta version to download?

If you have a 32-bit Oracle client currently installed in a 32-bit or 64-bit environment:

• Download/Update 32-bit Beta 

If you have a 64-bit Oracle client currently installed in a 64-bit environment:

• Download/Update 64-bit Beta
