5 types of posts in the Toad for Oracle® forum
Since its inception, Toad® for Oracle has had a forum for the benefit of its users. It’s a big part of what makes Toad for Oracle unique. You, the user, have direct access to the development team. Questions, ideas, and (gasp!) complaints….we want to hear ‘em.
But the Toad World® Forum hasn’t always been the forum you know and love today. It’s gone through a few different versions, and before that (1998–2013) we used Yahoo! Groups, where we used to talk like pirates on Fridays! Anyway, over the years, I’ve noticed that posts generally fall into one of the following categories:
Helpful
Norm Dunbar has been an active forum user for as long as I can remember. And he knows a lot about Oracle. I can’t stress that last point enough. But more importantly, he is consistently kind, thoughtful, and selfless. He has even written a free book about a very complex topic, Oracle Trace Files, and posted about it here:
Oracle Trace Files – finally documented. Free eBook.
Entertaining
I love this thread. The color of null. So random. So thought-provoking. The user had a genuine question, but a lot of silliness ensued.
Another active forum user for as long as I can remember is Rich Jesse. Rich also knows a lot about Oracle and is very helpful. He's also funny. Rich is known for his “disclaimers”, his love of beer, and the Green Bay Packers. Fun fact: Rich still has a copy of TOAD 7.3!

Great Ideas for Toad
So many features in Toad were ideas that came directly from users: The Project Manager, Connection Colors and Aliases, the list goes on and on. If you ever find yourself wishing “if Toad could only do _____”, then do yourself (and us!) a favor and head on over to the idea pond. Sometimes ideas bounce around a bit between users, sometimes they get implemented right away! Here’s an example of “right away”

Bug Reports
Sadly, Toad, like any software, isn’t perfect. If you find a bug, we want to know about it. We hate bugs too and we’ll fix them pronto!
Compare schemas false positive on column default
Toad/SQL Questions
Finally, we get a lot of posts about how to do something with Toad or SQL We’re here to help, and so are a lot of fellow users.

How to do a case statement on a Calculated Field
