According to Oracle, “an Oracle developer is responsible for creating or maintaining the database components of an application that uses the Oracle technology stack. Oracle developers either develop new applications or convert existing applications to run in an Oracle Database environment.” But there’s a lot more that goes into it.

A developer will tell you that he or she needs to know how to do the following on a regular basis:

• Implement the data model required by the application
• Create schema objects and implement rules for data integrity

Toad for Oracle Developers – PL/SQL Profiling and SQL Optimization

This complimentary course focuses on how to best leverage Toad’s PL/SQL Profiler to profile code for performance bottlenecks and SQL Optimization to automatically re-write SQL statements to find better alternatives. In the first lesson, you’ll learn how to set up the PL/SQL Profiler, profile your PL/SQL code, review the results and display code coverage indicators. In the second lesson, you’ll learn about the SQL Optimizer and how it efficiently helps you write better code.

Toad for Oracle Developers – Functional Code Testing and Debugging

If you’re writing code, you can use Toad to test and debug it with ease. This complimentary course’s lessons introduce the Code Tester for Oracle and the PL/SQL Debugger. In the first lesson, we’ll demonstrate how to launch the Code Tester and use it to create tests for existing code and run reports on test results. Lesson two will give you insight into the PL/SQL Debugger. You’ll also learn how to use Toad’s scheduling features to automate repetitive coding and debugging tasks.

Toad for Oracle Developers – Version Control and Code Reviews

This last complimentary course is for Oracle developers who write code that needs to be stored and tracked using version control, and who perform code reviews in order to comply with coding standards. This course explains how to use Toad Team Coding with your existing version control system and use Code Analysis to simplify and automate code reviews.

Completing all three no-cost courses will give you a solid foundation for using the developer-specific features of Toad—which are all designed to streamline your daily activities using one tool and a single interface.
